Useful work can help more than the person who created it.

You create something useful at work. It helps you, but nobody else in the company knows it exists.

Or you have a conversation that could answer a question for someone in another department. They weren't there, so that information never reaches them.

That's the problem a second brain is meant to solve. In a company, it's a shared place for the conversations, skills and workflows that other people could use. Useful knowledge has somewhere to go beyond the person who happened to create it or hear it.

Give the team access to the work

Imagine that conversation again. Someone on your team has a question, and you've already talked through something that would help them answer it. If the useful information is recorded in a shared place, they can read it too.

The same idea applies to a skill or a workflow. Work that helps one person may help another. A second brain gives the team a way to share it.

AI agents can use that reference as well. The goal is to keep useful knowledge in a form that both people and agents can read, then connect your team and tools to it.

Keep the format simple

“Second brain” can sound like another software purchase or a complicated system to learn. I want it to be as easy as possible.

You can store this material in text files. Both people and AI agents can read them. You don't need to buy another piece of software to begin keeping useful knowledge that way.

Use the files for the conversation that answers a question, the skill someone else needs, the workflow another team member could use. Keep the focus on making that material available.

Choose one useful workflow you've already created. Put it in text where the people who need it can read it, and give them access. That's a practical place to start.
